counselling towards liberation

My name is max. I am a counsellor based in in Narrm/Melbourne.

My practice is grounded in a belief that healing is relational and change is possible.

I am deeply curious about what pain tells us about our values and our experiences of harm and injustice. Counselling is a space where you are supported to make meaning of your experiences, integrate the lessons and let go of what is no longer serving you.

I am influenced by narrative and somatic approaches to therapy, harm minimisation, and trauma-informed practice. I am particularly passionate about working within queer and trans community.

I can walk alongside you as you navigate loss, grief, ruptures and transitions of all forms. Together, we can make sense of painful experiences, find ways to sit with distress and traumatic symptoms and reconnect with your sense of agency, aliveness and meaning.

I can support you to attend to any unhelpful behavioural patterns with compassion as you work towards creating desired changes in your life. My approach as a counsellor is at all times warm, relational and non-pathologising.

I have a strong family violence lens, with significant experience working with people experiencing violence and people causing harm.

Counselling

I am particularly interested in working with people around:

  • exploring sexuality and gender

  • eating disorders and other struggles with food and body, including intersections with gender dysphoria

  • neurodivergence

  • non-normative relationship structures

  • experiences of navigating IVF, pregnancy and miscarriage

Where appropriate and supportive, I can also bring lived experience perspectives to these conversations.

Supervision

I am a qualified clinical supervisor and love supporting individual practitioners and teams to grow and deepen their practice.

I believe having a space to critically reflect on our practice without fear of punishment or judgement allows us to show up more fully and effectively alongside the community members we support.

I have supervised diverse practitioners across family violence, behaviour change, mental health, sexual health, disability support and peer support work. I have particular expertise in the LGBTQ+ behaviour change space.

I can provide individual, dyad and group supervision. Please reach out for more info using the contact form below.
